PROFILE

Abang Arabi bin Abang Narudin is the Senior Vice President (SVP) for Corporate Strategy at Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS).

Abang Arabi has about 37 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. He started his career in 1985 with Sarawak Shell in Miri as an Exploration Geophysicist and moved on to hold various management and leadership roles. During his time with Shell, he held key positions overseeing economics & planning, new business development, commercial negotiations and managing strategic collaborations with partners for Exploration & Production, gas and LNG/GTL businesses.

In 2012, Abang Arabi joined PETRONAS as Head of Canada Operations based in Calgary, leading the development of Unconventional Shale Gas opportunities. He later moved on to assume the role of Vice President, Strategy & Business Development with Progress Energy Canada Ltd, a PETRONAS subsidiary in Canada.

Abang Arabi returned to PETRONAS Kuala Lumpur in 2017 as Head of Business Development Upstream, where he was responsible for managing Global Upstream business development, bidding for new international exploration blocks, pursuing strategic collaborations with key upstream IOC/NOC and upstream growth opportunities regionally and globally. During his time, PETRONAS had successfully expanded their international upstream businesses in Mexico, Brazil, Gabon, Senegal, Oman, Egypt and Indonesia.

Abang Arabi returned to Sarawak in 2019 to join PETROS, as VP for Portfolio and Planning. He has played key roles in the growth journey of PETROS over the last few years. Abang Arabi obtained his Bachelor of Science (Geology/Geophysics) degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1985.
