With over 28 years of experience in the manufacturing & exporting industry, Asif Ibrahim is the vice chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a business house that produces & sells ready-made garments, textiles, & plastic products from Bangladesh. He oversees the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational excellence of the group's diversified business portfolio. The group has 10,000 employees with an annual turnover of US$150 million.
Asif Ibrahim is actively involved in various leadership roles & initiatives in the capital market, trade, & sustainable development sectors in Bangladesh and beyond. He is the chairman of Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC (CSE), a director of several market infrastructure institutions and a senior member of the executive council of UNESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN). He is a director of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA), one of the conveners of Resurgent Bangladesh, which helped help frame policies for post covid economic recovery of Bangladesh. Asif Ibrahim is also a core committee member of the Citizens’ Platform for SDGs Bangladesh.
Asif Ibrahim is passionate about promoting policy reforms, economic recovery, & social responsibility in the private sector. He is a former president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), founder chairman of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), the first public private dialogue platform of Bangladesh & a former president of Bangladesh Professional Golfers Association (BPGA). Asif Ibrahim was also a director of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Employer's Federation (BEF), France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCIFB), Bangladesh Thail Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BTCCI) and Bangladesh Philippines Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BPCCI).
