Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Kingdom of Thailand, and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP H.E. Ardasher S. Qodiri is a senior Tajik diplomat with more than thirty years of experience in international relations, economic diplomacy, and regional cooperation across the Middle East, the Asia-Pacific, and the broader Muslim world. Since his appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Malaysia in April 2019, and subsequently to Indonesia and Thailand, he has played a central role in advancing Tajikistan’s strategic engagement with Southeast Asia, strengthening political dialogue, boosting economic ties, and promoting cross-border connectivity in investment, education, tourism, and trade.
Ambassador Qodiri began his diplomatic career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan in 2006 after years of professional experience in the Gulf countries. His early overseas assignments date back to the late Soviet period, when he pursued postgraduate studies in Arabic at Sanaa University in Yemen and concurrently served with the Soviet—later Russian—Trade Mission, engaging directly with Arab commercial partners. He later worked in the private sector in the United Arab Emirates before being recruited into the Tajik diplomatic service.
Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held a series of senior leadership roles, including Director General of the Department of Asian & African States, where he was responsible for shaping Tajikistan’s diplomacy across two major geopolitical regions. From 2013 to 2017, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar, during which he significantly revitalized bilateral relations and was awarded the Al-Wajba Medal by the Government of Qatar in recognition of his contributions.
As Ambassador to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, H.E. Qodiri has focused on deepening economic cooperation, promoting investment opportunities in Tajikistan, and creating new avenues for partnerships in sectors such as tourism, Islamic finance, logistics, industry, higher education, and rural development. His extensive engagements in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Bangkok include high-level meetings with cabinet ministers, senior government officials, business leaders, chambers of commerce, and universities. His Excellency has actively promoted people-to-people exchanges and encouraged Malaysian and Indonesian stakeholders to explore Tajikistan’s tourism potential, cultural heritage, and growing demand for Muslim-oriented tourism.
Ambassador Qodiri has represented Tajikistan at numerous international conferences and forums, frequently serving as head of delegation or as part of presidential and prime-ministerial advance teams. His career reflects long-standing commitment to enhancing Tajikistan’s global presence and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation within the Muslim world.
